At least five people were injured in an “attack” on New Year’s celebrations at the home of a Jewish priest (rabbi) on December 28 in a suburb of the US capital New York. Hanukkah celebrates the New Year in the Jewish religious rituals from December 22-30.

Hundreds of people gathered to celebrate the Hanukkah New Year on Saturday evening at a rabbi’s house in the Mansi area of New York. Police say, a young black man Grafton Thomas was attacked with a knife at the scene. Police arrested the young man and sent him to jail through court.
New York Governor Andreo Cuomo has ordered a full investigation into the incident. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said the incident was “horrific”, adding that there were many Jewish families in the area.
